Steve Hutchinson - Investment Committee
Following business school and an investment banking stint with White Weld & Co, Steve spent 17 years with The Hillman Company (Pittsburgh family office). During that period, Hillman was one of the largest and most active alternative investment companies in the country.
At Hillman, Steve led and managed numerous venture capital, private equity, and alternative investments in a wide variety of industries, including the founding limited partnership investments into the likes of Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts and Kleiner Perkins.
Subsequently, Steve became a Managing Partner and Co-Head of the Private Equity Group at Weiss, Peck & Greer (WPG), an investment management firm in New York, where he raised and managed several institutional middle market private equity funds. WPG’s Venture Capital arm is known today as Lightspeed Ventures.
When WPG was acquired by Rabobank with $16 billion AUM in 1998, Steve left to work as an independent advisor and entrepreneur involved with companies in numerous industries including (among others) mining, software, biotechnology, satellite communications, and renewable energy.
Steve, who now lives with his family in Omaha, is an alumnus of Vassar College and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. Steve and Michael have known, and worked with each other, for twenty years.
