Kyle Merrill - Advisor

After graduate school, Kyle joined SEMATECH, a joint venture of DARPA, the U.S. military’s innovation agency, and top U.S. computer companies. At SEMATECH, Kyle led engineering projects on wafer fab conversions and tool design for companies including Applied Materials, PerkinElmer, and Hewlett-Packard.

In the mid ’90s, Kyle joined Hewlett-Packard’s (HP) west coast research and development team spending over two decades leading engineering programs revolutionizing desktop printing. Kyle delivered numerous technology and business programs including high-profile projects saving HP hundreds of millions of dollars and launching new IP-based businesses including HP LightScribe.

Kyle subsequently joined HP’s Barcelona, Spain-based Large Format Printing business where he led efforts to bring HP’s unique latex, water-based printing technology to commercial print providers. HP continues as a world leader in innovative printing solutions.

Kyle teaches Technology Management as a Professional-in-Residence at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Kyle brings his extensive experience and passion for leading technical business ventures to his graduate and undergraduate students. Kyle holds M.S. and B.S. degrees in Statistics and Quality from Brigham Young University.
